The Business Analyst – Data, AI & Agentic Automation translates business needs into practical data, systems, automation, and artificial intelligence solutions. The role partners with leaders and employees across Innotech to improve reporting, streamline processes, strengthen data quality, and implement technology that produces measurable business value.

This position combines business analysis, data analytics, process improvement, enterprise application support, and applied generative AI. A key focus is the responsible design and implementation of agentic workflows using platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Platform, and related integration tools. The successful candidate will help Innotech move from basic AI use toward secure, governed solutions that can retrieve approved information, use tools, complete multi-step tasks, and route decisions or actions to people when required.

Duties & Responsibilities

Business Analysis and Process Improvement

  • Partner with stakeholders across departments to understand business objectives, operational challenges, user needs, and technology opportunities.
  • Gather, document, validate, and prioritize business, functional, data, integration, security, and reporting requirements.
  • Map current-state and future-state processes and identify opportunities for simplification, standardization, automation, and improved controls.
  • Develop business cases, process flows, requirements documents, user stories, acceptance criteria, recommendations, and implementation plans.
  • Facilitate workshops, interviews, demonstrations, and feedback sessions with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support solution selection, testing, user acceptance, implementation, adoption, and continuous improvement.

Data, Reporting and Business Intelligence

  • Collect, clean, validate, transform, and reconcile data from multiple business systems and sources.
  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, operational reports, KPIs, scorecards, and management reporting tools.
  • Use SQL, Excel, Power Query, and related tools to analyze trends, identify risks and opportunities, and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Support the development of reporting standards, data definitions, data quality controls, documentation, and governance practices.
  • Work with stakeholders to improve the accuracy, availability, consistency, and usability of business information.

AI, Agentic Automation and Workflow Solutions

  • Identify and prioritize appropriate use cases for generative AI, AI agents, workflow automation, and low-code solutions.
  • Design, configure, test, document, and maintain AI-assisted workflows and agents that can retrieve approved information, use defined tools, produce structured outputs, and complete multi-step business tasks.
  • Build or support reusable assistants and agents using ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Automate, Power Apps, or comparable platforms.
  • Develop clear system instructions, prompts, tool definitions, knowledge sources, approval steps, exception handling, and human-in-the-loop controls.
  • Connect AI solutions to approved enterprise information and applications through secure connectors, APIs, retrieval-augmented generation, or Model Context Protocol where appropriate.
  • Evaluate agent performance for accuracy, reliability, security, traceability, cost, latency, user experience, and measurable business value.
  • Create test cases and evaluation criteria for groundedness, tool selection, permissions, failure recovery, hallucination risk, and escalation to a person.
  • Document solution architecture, data flows, access requirements, operating procedures, limitations, and support responsibilities.
  • Help establish practical governance standards for responsible AI use, including least-privilege access, data classification, privacy, auditability, approval requirements, and change control.
  • Provide training and guidance that helps employees use AI tools effectively, safely, and consistently.

Enterprise Systems and Digital Transformation

  • Support the implementation, enhancement, integration, and maintenance of Innotech’s Configure, Price, Quote system and other enterprise applications.
  • Maintain and improve the company’s Non-Conformance Reporting database and supporting workflows.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams on system enhancements, integrations, data migration, testing, and issue resolution.
  • Prepare system documentation, operating procedures, user guides, training materials, and change communications.
  • Communicate project status, risks, decisions, dependencies, and recommendations to management and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Business Analytics, Data Science, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
  • Two to five years of relevant experience in business analysis, data analytics, business systems, process improvement, automation, or digital transformation.
  • Demonstrated experience translating business requirements into practical technology solutions.
  • Hands-on delivery of at least one AI-enabled automation, agent, enterprise assistant, retrieval-based solution, or comparable proof of concept.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences and manage multiple priorities in a changing environment.

Required Technical Skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data preparation, formulas, analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience working with large datasets, data validation, and reporting tools.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases, data structures, and data management concepts.
  • Experience documenting business requirements, workflows, process maps, test cases, and acceptance criteria.
  • Practical experience with Power BI or a comparable business intelligence platform.
  • Working knowledge of SQL for querying, analysis, and data validation.
  • Practical use of generative AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude in a professional environment.
  • Understanding of prompt and instruction design, structured outputs, context management, retrieval, tool use, and human approval controls.

Preferred AI and Agentic Platform Experience

ChatGPT and OpenAI

  • Experience building or administering custom GPTs, workspace agents, reusable assistants, or agentic workflows in ChatGPT Business or Enterprise.
  • Experience connecting ChatGPT solutions to approved business information, files, applications, APIs, or workflow actions.
  • Familiarity with OpenAI platform capabilities such as the Responses API, Agents SDK, tool or function calling, file search, retrieval, structured outputs, connectors, and Model Context Protocol.
  • Experience implementing permissions, approval checkpoints, testing, monitoring, and workspace governance for shared AI solutions.

Claude and Anthropic

  • Experience building or configuring business workflows using Claude, Claude for Enterprise, Claude Code, the Claude API, or comparable Anthropic tools.
  • Familiarity with Claude tool use, structured tool definitions, connectors, retrieval workflows, and Model Context Protocol.
  • Experience connecting Claude-based solutions to approved files, databases, APIs, development environments, or enterprise systems.
  • Understanding of context management, tool-result handling, multi-step task execution, failure recovery, and user oversight.

Additional Preferred Skills

  • Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Automate, Power Apps, Copilot Studio, AI Builder, and Dataverse.
  • Workflow automation platforms such as n8n, Make, Zapier, or ServiceNow.
  • Retrieval-augmented generation, enterprise search, embeddings, document grounding, or knowledge-base integration.
  • Basic Python or another analytics or scripting language.
  • API integration, JSON, webhooks, authentication concepts, and secure secrets handling.

Working Conditions

The duties of this position will primarily be performed at Innotech’s head office in Langley, British Columbia, under normal office working conditions. Occasional work outside standard hours may be required to support implementations, testing, or system changes.
