From Emerging Technology to Industry Standard: Innotech Windows + Doors Celebrates 25 Years

Company News

British Columbia manufacturer marks a quarter-century of growth, manufacturing excellence and leadership in high-performance windows and doors.

LANGLEY, BC – Innotech Windows + Doors is celebrating 25 years in business, marking a quarter-century of manufacturing high-performance windows and doors in British Columbia and helping advance European-style fenestration from an emerging technology to an established solution for some of North America’s highest-performing buildings.

Founded in 2001, Innotech began in a small manufacturing facility in Abbotsford, British Columbia, introducing European-style tilt-and-turn windows and multi-seal door systems to a market where they were unfamiliar. From the beginning, the company focused on a different approach to fenestration, one built around airtightness, water resistance, thermal performance and proven durability.

Twenty-five years later, increasingly stringent building codes, energy standards and voluntary performance programs, such as the Passive House standard, across Canada and the United States have validated that early foresight. Innotech has grown alongside that evolution, manufacturing increasingly advanced fenestration systems in British Columbia for applications ranging from custom homes to complex multi-family and high-rise projects. What was once an emerging technology has become an established standard for high-performance buildings.

“When we started, we were asking the market to think differently about windows and doors and the role they play in building performance. Today, these are conversations we have on almost every project. Performance is no longer an afterthought; it is an expected part of good building design. To have contributed to that shift, while continuing to learn and evolve ourselves, is something we are incredibly proud of.”

– Troy Imbery, Founding Partner & President of Innotech Windows + Doors

That evolution has been matched by significant growth within Innotech itself. From a handful of employees working from its original Abbotsford operation, the company has grown to more than 125 employees, with a larger headquarters, manufacturing facility and showroom in Langley. Innotech has expanded its presence with additional showrooms in Vancouver, Kelowna and Calgary, supported by a network of more than a dozen dealer partners across Canada and the United States.

That growth has also been supported by long-standing supplier partnerships. From product systems and components to glass, hardware and technical support, our suppliers have helped Innotech continually improve quality, expand our capabilities and respond to increasingly demanding projects. Many of these relationships span decades, built on trust, collaboration and a shared commitment to better-performing buildings.

25 Years of Progress

Over the past quarter-century, Innotech has continued to invest in manufacturing, product development, technical expertise and third-party verification. Key milestones include:

  • A vision unfolds: Innotech Windows + Doors is incorporated in British Columbia in 2001 with manufacturing beginning in Abbotsford the following year.
  • Redefining quality: Innotech installs its first in-house water testing chamber and begins testing up to 10% of manufactured products, demonstrating its commitment to product quality.
  • Expansion to Langley: Continued growth leads Innotech to move into a significantly larger headquarters and manufacturing facility in Langley, increasing office space, production capacity to better support demand for high-performance fenestration.
  • North American industry milestone: The Defender 88PH+ XI becomes the first North American-manufactured window to achieve Passive House Institute cold-climate certification.
  • Greater product transparency: Innotech publishes Environmental Product Declarations and Health Product Declarations for its core window and door systems, strengthening its commitment to verified performance and sustainability.
  • Expanded services: The company expands beyond manufacturing to provide installation, service and renovation support, strengthening its ability to support projects from product selection through long-term performance.
  • Investment in quality control: Innotech’s original in-house testing chamber is replaced with a much larger and advanced testing wall that allows the company to easily test more and larger products.

Across 25 years of growth and innovation, Innotech’s commitment to quality has remained constant. Its products are continually refined and tested for the demanding climates and building conditions found across North America, from coastal exposure to extreme winter temperatures. Rigorous quality assurance throughout manufacturing, combined with in-house testing and independent verification, helps deliver the trusted, proven performance expected to last for generations.

Today, Innotech products are specified on high-performance projects throughout Canada and the United States. In British Columbia, projects including The Peak, UBC Evolve and 981 Davie demonstrate how locally manufactured, Passive House certified fenestration can contribute to ambitious goals for carbon reduction, occupant comfort and building longevity. That same performance is equally important in the custom home market, where Innotech products are specified for residences facing demanding coastal conditions, extreme cold and increasingly ambitious energy-efficiency targets, including Passive House and Net Zero projects.

Behind those achievements is the principle that shaped Innotech’s 25th anniversary campaign: Performance Starts with People.

“Machinery doesn’t build a company. Systems don’t build a company. People do,” says Imbery. “Our employees, clients, suppliers and industry partners have challenged us to learn, improve and continually raise the bar. That commitment has shaped Innotech from the beginning.”

As Innotech looks toward its next 25 years, the company remains focused on investing in its people, strengthening industry partnerships, advancing high-performance fenestration and helping create healthier buildings for future generations.
