Knowing What Works

As we approach our 25-year anniversary, our Performance Starts with People series continues with Nicolay Kottke, one of Innotech Windows + Doors’ long-standing Product Consultants serving British Columbia’s Interior.

In Knowing What Works, Nicolay reflects on what it takes to introduce a different kind of window and door system to a market, why being personally involved in projects matters, and how lasting success is built on much more than the product itself.

Building a Market Takes Time

Introducing something new is rarely as simple as offering a better product. Both building professionals and homeowners need to understand how it works, where it adds value and why they should consider a different product.

That takes time, education and trust.

“In the end, a product is only as good as the installation and service that comes with it.”

– Nicolay Kottke, Product Representative, Innotech Windows + Doors

Knowing the Project

For Nicolay, knowing what works comes from being involved.

Every project is different. Architecture, performance targets and the priorities of the people using the building all influence the decisions that need to be made. Being present, asking the right questions and understanding the project firsthand allows a product consultant to provide informed guidance based on experience.

That personal involvement is especially important in a region as diverse as British Columbia’s Interior, where buildings must respond to demanding seasonal conditions without compromising design, comfort and budget.

More Than a Product

A high-quality window or door may be where the relationship begins, but it is not what makes a company successful on its own.

Technical support, installation and service, and the people standing behind the product all shape the client experience long after a decision has been made.

For Nicolay, that is ultimately what knowing what works is about: combining the right product with the experience, service and people required to make the entire project successful.

Watch Knowing What Works and hear Nicolay’s perspective on what it takes to build trust, one project at a time.
